README

Nest

A personal agent manager: dispatch, watch, review and merge coding-agent work across your repos from a native Mac app or an iPhone web app.

Nest is the app around the agent, not the agent itself. Agents run on the official Claude Code engine through the Claude Agent SDK, using your own Claude subscription login and your existing Claude Code setup (CLAUDE.md, skills, plugins, MCP servers, hooks). Agents never commit or push; Nest does that after you approve in the UI.

Status: early development. See `docs/decisions.md` for why things are built the way they are.

Nest was called harness until B43 (D080). Its daemon and command line tool are `nestd`; the move from the old names happens on its own, see [Renamed from harness](#renamed-from-harness).

Layout

Path What
daemon/ Python daemon (FastAPI, websockets, Claude Agent SDK, Codex app-server, SQLite). Runs on the Mac as a background service.
web/ iPhone PWA (React, TypeScript, Vite), served by the daemon.
apple/ Native Mac app: a Swift package with the NestKit logic library and the NestApp SwiftUI executable (D024).
design/ tokens.toml, the design tokens shared by both clients (make tokens regenerates the CSS and Swift outputs). Both clients use the [colors.mac] palette and lane colours; the Mac also its mac_* radii and spacing (Swift DesignTokens.Colors.Mac), the iPhone its phone_* type sizes, row height and card radius (CSS --typography-size-phone-*, --spacing-phone-row, --radius-phone-card). The iPhone no longer offers glass themes or wallpapers (D126); their token tables are still generated but unused. See D039 and D073.
