A command-line interface (CLI) tool for interacting with the Anthropic Claude API, featuring a robust agent system with tool capabilities.

Project is running inside terminal application and allows you to chat with Claude and enable it to perform actions in your environment using tools. It demonstrates how to build an agent system with the ability to use tools to interact with the local file system.

Motivation

This project was created to understand how AI agents work and to explore the architecture of agent systems. The goal was to build a simple but functional agent system in Swift that can interact with the Claude API and execute tools based on Claude's decisions.

• Implementing tool definitions and execution flows
• Managing conversation context between the agent and the AI

Functionality

• Interactive terminal-based chat with Claude LLM

  • /clear - Clear conversation history
  • /tools - List available tools

Requirements

• macOS 13.0+
• Swift 6.0+
• Anthropic API key

Getting Started

1. Clone the repository
2. Open the project in Xcode or your favorite editor
3. Replace "your-api-key" in main.swift with your actual Anthropic API key
4. Build and run the project:

swift build
swift run
