Research Competitors

Scrape your competitors' Instagram, find which posts went viral, transcribe the winning reels, and extract the hooks. Automated competitive intelligence — run it weekly and always know what's working in your niche.

What It Does

You give it 5-10 competitor Instagram handles
It scrapes their latest posts via Apify (pennies per run)
Finds "outliers" — posts that got 2x+ the account's normal views
Downloads and transcribes the outlier reels (using Whisper, locally and free)
Extracts the hooks and saves them to a growing database
Shows you patterns: what hook formats are winning, which creators are on fire

Requirements

A Mac, Linux, or Windows computer
Claude Code installed and working
An Apify account (free tier works — pay per scrape)

**Optional (for reel transcription + hook extraction):**

Python 3 (pre-installed on Mac)
yt-dlp (pip3 install yt-dlp)
ffmpeg (brew install ffmpeg on Mac)
Whisper (pip3 install openai-whisper)

Without the transcription tools, the skill still finds outliers and shows stats — it just can't transcribe reels to extract hooks. The setup wizard tells you exactly what to install.

Install

Step 1 — Open your terminal

**Mac:** Press `Command + Space`, type **Terminal**, hit Enter. **Windows:** Press `Win + R`, type **cmd**, hit Enter. (If you have Git Bash, use that instead.) **Linux:** Open your terminal app.

Step 2 — Run this command
