What Startup Announcements does

A Claude skill for early-stage founders (pre-seed through Series A) who have news to share. It asks a few questions, decides what a funding round, hire, partnership, or launch deserves, and builds a checklist for announcement day, including what to skip. It gives honest odds and flags who needs to sign off before anything goes public.

Startup Announcement Guide

A Claude skill for early-stage founders (pre-seed through Series A) who have news to share.

Tell Claude what happened. It asks a few questions, decides what your news deserves, and builds a checklist you can finish, ordered around announcement day. It also tells you what to skip on purpose, so you know the omissions were a decision.

What it covers

  • Funding rounds
  • Key hires
  • Partnerships
  • Product and feature launches

For each one it works out whether you need a LinkedIn post, a blog post, a press release, a VC newsletter pitch, or none of the above. It leans on local press, gives honest odds on what is worth the effort, and flags who needs to sign off before anything goes public (investors, partners, the people being named).

When to use it

Use it when you have news and you are not sure what to do with it. It works best before anything is written or scheduled. It is built for small teams with no comms or PR person. If you have a PR team or a very large round, some of the advice will be more conservative than you need.

What it does not do

It plans. It does not write your press release, blog post, or LinkedIn copy, and it does not teach you to pitch journalists. Once the plan is done you can ask Claude to draft any piece from the brief it gives you. The one thing it drafts on its own is the short pitch for VC deal roundup newsletters like Term Sheet and Axios Pro Rata.

Install

  1. Download startup-announcements.skill from the Releases page.
  2. In Claude, go to Customize, then Skills. Click the plus button, choose Create skill, then Upload a skill, and select the file. If it won't take the .skill file, rename it to .zip and try again.
  3. Turn on code execution and file creation if they are off (Settings, then Capabilities). On Team and Enterprise plans an organization owner turns this on. Skills do not run without it.

Try it

Start a new chat and describe your news. A few ways in:
