README

Grant & Funder Landscape Scan

A Claude skill that researches who funds a nonprofit and what those funders currently prioritize, then compares that against the organization's own public messaging, built for anyone pitching or interviewing at a nonprofit who wants to walk in already knowing the funding picture.

Nonprofit strategy and messaging live downstream of funding. This skill has Claude identify known funders (from the org's own site, Form 990s, and press coverage), research each major funder's current priorities, flag any gap or alignment between that and the nonprofit's messaging, and note funding concentration risk, all sourced and dated.

Output covers:

  • Known funders — sourced list
  • What they currently prioritize — sourced, per funder
  • Messaging gap or alignment — specific, not general
  • Funding concentration note — flagged if relevant
  • Source dates — so you know how current the picture is

Delivered inline in chat.

How to use it

  1. Download SKILL.md from this repo.
  2. In Claude, go to Customize > Skills, click + Create skill > Upload a skill, and upload the file (as a .skill/.zip package, or package it yourself — see Anthropic's skill docs).
  3. Name a nonprofit and ask Claude to scan its funder landscape.

Notes

  • Requires web search / web fetch access in Claude.
  • Works from public information only; for very small or new nonprofits with little public funder data, the skill says so rather than guessing.
  • No affiliation with or endorsement by Anthropic. Shared as-is; feel free to fork and adapt.
