DevCLI brings the power of Anthropic's Claude agent SDK directly to your terminal — with an interactive chat mode, one-shot queries, and three permission modes (`agent`, `ask`, `plan`) inspired by tools like Cursor.

✨ Features

  • agent mode — Full agentic loop: Claude can read files, edit code, and run commands
  • ask mode — Read-only exploration: answers questions without touching your files
  • plan mode — Explores your codebase and proposes a plan, no edits applied
  • Interactive chat — Streaming multi-turn conversation with slash command support
  • One-shot queries — Fire a single prompt and get a result, great for scripting
  • Secure key storage — API key stored in ~/.config/devcli/config.json (never in your project)

📦 Installation

npm install -g devcli-ai

🔑 Setup

You'll need a free Anthropic API key from [console.anthropic.com](https://console.anthropic.com).

devcli config set-key

You'll be prompted to enter your key. It gets saved securely to `~/.config/devcli/config.json` with owner-only file permissions (`0600`).

Alternatively, set it as an environment variable:

export ANTHROPIC_API_KEY=sk-ant-...

Verify everything is working:

devcli doctor
