Skillkit — Development skill for Claude Code

Development community

A per-project Claude Code skill manager.

How to install Skillkit

This entry records only its repository, not the path inside it, so there is no exact command to give. Open narendranag/skillkit and copy the folder into ~/.claude/skills/, or the file into ~/.claude/agents/.

What Skillkit does

A per-project Claude Code skill manager. Curate a hybrid registry of skills — yours, gstack's, team collections — and install chosen subsets (individually or as packs) into a project's .claude/skills/

Alternatives in Development

  • Astro — Astro 5.x components, routing, collections, i18n, SEO, Tailwind, React islands, transitions 2.6k ★
  • Portaljs Add Map — Render a GeoJSON dataset on an interactive Leaflet map in the Views section of a dataset's showcase 2.3k ★

README

skillkit

A per-project Claude Code skill manager. Curate a hybrid registry of skills — yours, gstack's, team collections — and install chosen subsets (individually or as packs) into a project's `.claude/skills/`. Skills become active only in the projects you select them for, not in every Claude Code session system-wide.

**Why it exists.** Frameworks like [gstack](https://github.com/gstacks/gstack) scatter ~80 skills into `~/.claude/skills/` so they load in _every_ session, regardless of project. skillkit makes skill selection per-project and declarative: commit a `skills.toml`, `sync` anywhere.

Install

git clone ~/personal/skillkit
cd ~/personal/skillkit
uv tool install --editable .

This puts `skillkit` on your PATH via uv's tool shim directory. If `uv` prints a PATH hint after install, add the suggested directory to your shell's `$PATH`.

**Registry location** — resolved in this order:

  1. $SKILLKIT_REGISTRY environment variable
  2. Default: ~/personal/skillkit (the cloned repo itself)

Concepts

Concept Where it lives What it is
Source sources.toml in the registry A named root directory whose sub-dirs are skills. Declare your mine skills, gstack's dir, a shared team collection, etc.
Catalog computed Union of all source roots — every skill across all declared sources.
