**A friendly, document-forward frontend for the [LQ.AI](https://github.com/LegalQuants/lq-ai) legal-AI backend** — conversational legal work with character-verified citations, **U.S. case-law research**, and a **governed tool-loop** (the assistant asks your approval before it reaches for case law or connected **MCP** tools), plus transparent receipts and autonomous runs, under a clean reading-first interface inspired by [MikeOSS](https://github.com/willchen96/mike).

Donna is a standalone SvelteKit app that talks to the lq-ai backend only through its published API, and vendors that backend (as a pinned git submodule) so the whole product runs together with one compose file.

What's inside

Assistant chat with streaming answers and character-verified citation pills — hover for the source quote, click to open the document panel jumped to the exact cited passage. A per-turn receipts drawer shows every retrieval, inference, and skill event behind an answer, including whether anonymization was applied.
Fiduciary receipts — every answer carries a trust pill and an expandable citation ledger (sources, quoted passages, verification, case treatment); autonomous sessions get the same matter-level audit trail, and any receipt can be exported as an honest provenance record. Legal research & tools — a dedicated Research workspace for U.S. case law (search CourtListener, read full opinions, verify citations), plus a governed tool-loop in chat: the assistant can look up case law or call connected MCP (Model Context Protocol) tools, always asking your approval first, and lists the sources it consulted beneath the answer.
