**Release v0.1.0** · **English** · [Español](README.es.md)

LCARS for Herdr is the live command center for [Herdr](https://herdr.dev): see who is working or blocked, track Claude Code and Codex quota per account, and hand off verified context between engines without losing or duplicating work.

Runtime requirements: Herdr 0.9.0+ and Node 22+. Plugin v0.1.0 supports macOS and Linux; it does not yet support Windows.

When an engine runs out of quota or is no longer the right choice, LCARS opens another one in the same checkout, delivers the saved context, and keeps the source agent open until the operator verifies the handoff.

[!IMPORTANT] LCARS for Herdr is an unofficial, fan-made interface and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Herdr, CBS Studios, Paramount, or the owners of the referenced marks and designs. See [NOTICE.md](NOTICE.md).

1. Install Herdr first

LCARS for Herdr is a plugin, not a standalone replacement for Herdr. If `herdr` is not already installed, follow the [official Herdr installation guide](https://herdr.dev/docs/install/). The shortest supported routes are:

# macOS with Homebrew
brew install herdr

# or the official direct installer on macOS / Linux
curl -fsSL https://herdr.dev/install.sh | sh

Confirm both prerequisites before continuing:

herdr --version # must be 0.9.0 or newer
node --version # must be v22 or newer

Start Herdr at least once with `herdr`; LCARS talks only to its local socket and cannot operate without it.

2. Install LCARS for Herdr v0.1.0

Install the stable release from GitHub:

herdr plugin install jlcases/herdr-lcars --ref v0.1.0 --yes
herdr plugin action invoke dev.jlcases.herdr-lcars.ping # verify the installation
herdr plugin action invoke dev.jlcases.herd
