Claude Code on Gemini — via Vertex AI + the $300 Google credit

Run **Claude Code** on Google **Gemini** (or DeepSeek / Qwen / GPT‑OSS) through a local router, billed to your Google Cloud project — so a brand‑new Google Cloud account's **$300 free‑trial credit** pays for it instead of your Anthropic subscription.

⚠️ This is an **unofficial** proxy setup built on [claude-code-router](https://github.com/musistudio/claude-code-router). It is not supported by Anthropic or Google. Use at your own risk.

Why this repo exists

The naive version of this tutorial fails in several non‑obvious ways. This repo bakes in the fixes:

1. The credit only applies through Vertex AI (aiplatform.googleapis.com), not the AI Studio API‑key endpoint (generativelanguage.googleapis.com). An API key silently uses a free tier and never touches the credit. Vertex authenticates with your Google login (ADC), not a key.
2. claude-code-router v3.x is UI‑only and ignores config.json — you must pin 1.0.73.
3. Gemini 3.x needs two patches to ccr's bundle, or it breaks:
   • streaming crashes with Cannot read properties of undefined (reading '0')
   • every tool call 400s with missing a thought_signature
4. Gemini 3.x lives in the global location, not regional endpoints.

What you do vs. what the AI does

**You — browser / payment (cannot be automated):**

1. Create a Google account.
2. In the Cloud Console, claim the $300 free trial and add a billing card. Not charged during the trial — it's identity/anti‑abuse verification. Vertex has no free tier, so billing is mandatory.
3. Install Node.js ≥18 and the gcloud CLI.
4. Authorize: gcloud auth login and gcloud auth application-default login.
