Ideation Machine

A Claude Code workflow that generates, validates, and ranks business ideas from a single prompt.

Give it a direction like _"tools for independent landlords"_ or _"AI applications in veterinary care"_ and it will brainstorm ideas from multiple angles, research each one, try to kill the weak ones, score the survivors, and produce a ranked report.

How it works

The workflow runs four phases using parallel AI agents:

Brainstorm — 4 agents explore the direction from different lenses (technology, user needs, business models, wild cards) and generate 12-20 raw ideas
Validate — each unique idea gets 3 parallel agents: market research (TAM/SAM, growth trends), competitor analysis, and a devil's advocate trying to kill it
Score — surviving ideas are scored on feasibility, market fit, defensibility, and revenue potential (1-10 each) and ranked by a weighted composite
Synthesize — a final agent compiles everything into a structured markdown report with rankings, scorecards, and next steps

Requirements

Claude Code CLI installed and authenticated
A Claude plan that supports workflows (the workflow spawns ~30-50 agents per run)

Installation

Copy the workflow file into your Claude Code workflows directory:

cp ideation-machine.js ~/.claude/workflows/

Usage

Run the workflow from any directory:

/ideation-machine tools for independent landlords

Or invoke it from the CLI:

claude -w ideation-machine "AI applications in veterinary care"

The workflow writes a `report.md` file to your current working directory when it finishes.

Output

The report includes:

Executive summary with the top pick and key market insight
Ranked idea cards with scores, market data, competitor landscape, and risk analysis
Killed ideas and why they were eliminated
Key takeaways and recommended next steps for the top ideas
