AwakeLock

AwakeLock is a native macOS menu bar utility that locks the screen with the real macOS Lock Screen while preventing idle system sleep. It was created for long-running AI agent workflows, so coding agents, research agents, terminal jobs, and network tasks can continue while the display is locked or turned off.

The sleep-prevention mechanism applies to the entire Mac rather than integrating with a specific agent, which also makes AwakeLock useful for builds, downloads, servers, data processing, and other unattended work.

Why AwakeLock?

AI agents often run multi-step coding, research, browser, and automation tasks that take much longer than a normal interactive session. Locking a Mac is safe, but the Mac may later enter idle sleep and interrupt the agent's network connection or local process. AwakeLock keeps the real macOS Lock Screen while preventing that idle sleep.

Uses the native macOS Lock Screen and the system's Touch ID, Apple Watch, or password authentication.
Keeps the Mac awake temporarily when using AwakeLock's Lock Screen action, then releases sleep prevention automatically after you unlock.
Keeps the Mac awake across later system Lock Screen sessions only when Prevent Mac from Sleeping Automatically is enabled manually.
