**H.E.R.E.T.I.C. = Host Environment for Realtime Embodiment, Tooling & Interactive Control.**
The original README below (written April 2026) described an earlier vision — HERETIC as an agentic brain, a thoughtform companion engine, a self-evolving digital hof. That vision was generative and powerful, and it is preserved here as the seed from which the current project grew. But the architecture has since resolved into something more precise and more buildable.
The name changed. The acronym changed. The *soul* did not.
What H.E.R.E.T.I.C. Actually Is Now
H.E.R.E.T.I.C. is a **body for AI agents** — a local runtime host that gives any OpenAI-compatible agent realtime sensory access to your computing world. Voice I/O, screen vision, creative tools (Blender, Photopea), browser automation, file system, and terminal — all surfaced as MCP tools the inhabiting agent can call.
The agent is the spirit. H.E.R.E.T.I.C. is the vessel. The connection is ceremonial: you summon it when you want the agent present, and close it when you don't. No always-on drain. Like lighting a candle — the flame exists when you need it.
