📌 What this is

claude-research is a Windows app setup for scientific writing and research work. It helps you review papers, manage citations, draft articles, export to LaTeX, and prepare presentations. It works inside VS Code and uses Claude Code to help with the research flow.

Use it if you want one place for:

  • finding and reading papers
  • building notes and citations
  • writing a paper or report
  • exporting to LaTeX
  • creating a slide deck with Reveal.js

🖥️ What you need

Before you install, make sure your PC has:

  • Windows 10 or Windows 11
  • VS Code installed
  • A stable internet connection
  • Enough free space for research files
  • A Claude account or access to Claude Code
  • A modern browser for setup pages and docs

🚀 Install on Windows

  1. Open the download page in your browser.
  2. Download the project files to a folder you can find again, such as Downloads or Desktop.
  3. If the file is a ZIP package, right-click it and choose Extract All.
  4. Open the extracted folder.
  5. Start VS Code.
  6. In VS Code, open the claude-research folder.
  7. If the project includes a setup file, open it and follow the on-screen steps.
  8. If the project uses a template or workspace file, open that file in VS Code.
  9. Let VS Code finish loading the project files.
  10. Connect Claude Code if the setup asks for it.
