This entry records only its repository, not the path inside it, so there is no exact command to give. Open captkernel/instacomp and copy the folder into ~/.claude/skills/, or the file into ~/.claude/agents/.

instacomp

Pulls the text out of Instagram posts, reels and carousels you have shared or saved: caption, audio transcript and on-screen text. Everything lands in one SQLite library with Markdown and CSV exports.

Install & use (v0.2)

uv tool install "instacomp[deep] @ git+https://github.com/captkernel/instacomp"

No `uv`? `pipx install "instacomp[deep] @ git+https://github.com/captkernel/instacomp"` works too.

For local development: `pip install -e ".[deep,chrome,dev]"`.

Extras: `deep` adds faster-whisper (it also needs ffmpeg on PATH). `chrome` adds playwright, for the optional Chrome sync mode.

In Claude Code, install the plugin from the captKernel marketplace, then run `/instacomp:setup`:

`/instacomp:setup` It walks you through the export below and the first import.

Get your Instagram export

Settings, Accounts Center, Your information and permissions, Download your information, Download or transfer information, your account, Some of your information. Tick **Messages** and **Saved**. Choose Download to device, set the date range, Format **JSON**, Media quality **Low**, then Create files. Instagram emails you when the ZIP is ready.

Library

The library lives in `~/.instacomp` (override with `INSTACOMP_HOME`): `library.db`, `media/`, `exports/`, `chrome_profile/`, `models/`.

CLI

Run `instacomp --help`. Every command takes `--json`.

Command	What it does
`chats ZIP`	List the chats found in an export.
`import ZIP [--dm NAME]... [--saved-since YYYY-MM-DD] [--me NAME]`	Load DM threads and saved posts from the export.
`fetch [--limit N]`	Fetch captions logged-out. 1 to 3 s pacing, max 300 per run, stops after 5 refusals in a row. Rerun later.
`deep [--source S]`	For posts with a caption under 80 characters: download media, run Whisper, extract frames.
`load-ocr`	Load OCR text written by the ocr-reader agen
