The Mac app
Machogs 1.4.0 is a free, signed and Apple-notarized Mac app. Start with **Overview** for a plain-English finding, a count of protected work left alone, and a clear next step. Storage, Ports, Receipts, and the menu-bar view are there when you need them. Actions open a review before anything closes or clears.
**New in 1.4:** optional usage sharing, off by default. Say “No thanks” and use every feature, or change your choice later in **Settings → Privacy**. [Release notes](https://github.com/bnishit/machogs/releases/tag/v1.4.0) · [Privacy details](https://bnishit.github.io/machogs/privacy.html)
The app needs macOS 13 or later. No admin password, Full Disk Access, or Accessibility access is required. Prefer Terminal? [Install the CLI](#install-the-cli).
$ machogs
🐷 Found the hog. Caught in 4K. Receipts below.
🔥 bun — left by a Claude Code plugin
Eating 98% of a CPU core. Running for 4 days.
It is stuck in a loop. Nothing is waiting for it.
This is why your Mac feels slow, runs hot, spins its fan,
and loses battery faster than it should.
To go through them one at a time: machogs fix
Nothing is closed unless you say yes.
That one is real, no cap. It ran for four days at ninety percent of a CPU core. It burned 91 hours of processor time. Nobody opened it, nobody used it, and nothing on the machine said a word about it. Caught in 4K.
What it catches: 🔥 stuck spinners cooking your CPU · 👯 clone armies (one app, 28 copies of the same helper) · 👻 ghost browsers nobody is looking at · 🧟 zombie helpers that survived their app · 🧠 memory squatters · 🌡️ and the honest diagnosis when only a restart will fix it.
Why is my Mac fan so loud?
